POST EVENT REPORT

We have come a long way in only three years! A tremendous thanks to our sponsors for partnering with us to produce this incredible event - this year, thanks to your forward-thinking and imagination, we have created a stronghold as the most unique and vibrant business conference in the city.
The momentum from 2018 propelled this year's event to a new level. We achieved an over-sold registration list exceeding 400 attendees. In addition, based on lessons learned from 2018, we significantly improved speaker curation, lighting/props and audio-visual, and kicked sponsor activations up a few notches.
While we had some familiar faces in the audience, the majority of our attendees were new, first-timers. This event has sparked new ideas moving forward. Please scroll down to review our 2019 Post-Event Report.

What worked and what didn't.
BEST TURNOUT & RETENTION TO DATE
Despite the venue being a little further than normal, and the late June date, we still had over 400 registered attendees and almost 90% checked in. The shorter program also helped us retain the audience.
VIBE, DECOR, AND AMBIANCE
We elevated the look and feel, incorporating more AV, lighting props, and floor plan to create pockets of conversation. We also increased the number of lounge seating areas and divided the space to accommodate flow.
CORE SPONSOR ACTIVATIONS
Our core sponsors deserve credit for elevating their activations to a level that both inspired and awed our attendees. Comments were of the "Wow, this is cool" variety. Thank you sponsors!
The Westin Bayshore's staff and level of service was excellent from our perspective. Relative to 2018's miss at Parq Vancouver, this year was a big success when it came to hospitality and service.
Our theme of "Through the Lens" was a great pilot. We will continue to develop themes for the event, keeping speakers on track and developing a consistent framework for activations, decor, etc.
Okay, this we can improve significantly. There's no reason for line ups, so this will be dealt with in 2020. We don't even need fancy technology - just a well-thought out process and the right people.
Despite a great reluctance to use name tags we did make a true attempt to get them printed. Unfortunately, the printer made an error and missed a quarter of the names. They admit to the mistake, but we obviously didn't use the name tags given so many were missing.
Some of our speakers were surprisingly great. Others, perhaps we could do a better job on the curation and speaker preparation. We will continue to work with our Speaker Selection Committee to improve. That said, overall, there was an improvement over 2018.
Minor issues with some suppliers, including one rental company, event registration software capabilities, and some inconsistency in quality of activations. We also note a disappointment in quality of deliverables from the photographer and videographer. While minor, these will be dealt with for 2020.
Plans for 2020 are already underway! In fact, we're excited to propose a completely different conference format, an unexpected venue (not a hotel ballroom), and some new features that will elevate the attendee experience multiple-times over.
